Every year energy theft causes an estimated £300m loss to the industry. But meter interference is not only a financial cost, it can also result in serious injury or loss of life.

Prevention of energy theft is a specialist field and ScottishPower Metering Services is widely recognised as an industry leader in revenue protection. We have a track record in detection, with 70% of suspected cases positively identified as theft.

Our team, working from Warrington and Glasgow, offers an end to end service from initial visit to preparation and execution of warrants. Furthermore, we provide police statements, prepare court cases and attend legal hearings.

Education and prevention

Uniquely, in our Glasgow advice and visitor centre we also educate the public, emergency services and other industry bodies about the dangers of tampering with equipment.

We work closely with the police and drugs enforcement agencies, for example to detect cannabis cultivation. We are a founder member of the UK Revenue Protection Association and act as European liaison of the International Utilities Revenue Protection Association.
